OCTOBER PEOPLE

Raven and The Gothicfox (Andy): Day 2 of Sacrosanct and here we are interviewing The October People, lovely to meet you all. First question – how did the invite come about to play at Sacrosanct this year?

October People (Gio): Ok, this year we were contacted by Dave and Simone, they really liked our 2nd album and they invite us to feature at this edition of Sacrosanct and we are very excited to be here and we are ready to have a great night.

Raven and The Gothicfox (Andy): Ok, 2nd question, now from your image, you appear to be approaching goth and post punk from the Indie side of the genre in a similar way to Interpol and the Editors, do you have any views on the more darker goth side of the scene?

October People (Gio): We surely like a lot of classic bands from the 80’s like Sisters of Mercy and stuff like that and New Model Army, err that we actually played with them 2 years ago.

Raven and The Gothicfox (Mike): I actually think your image is really cool, and you look too cool for school!

October People: (Lots of Laughter) you are so kind! You know what is really cool, when you Say October People..

October People

October People: (more laughter) because there are not many people in Spain that can say that well.

Raven and The Gothicfox (Andy): (to Gio) Actually when I first saw you walk by I thought ‘that’s Dave Gahan’

October People: (Lots of laughter) Gio – That is my Curse! Everybody says this!

Raven and The Gothicfox (Mike): We were actually saying earlier that you are one band that could have the mainstream crossover potential to become massive, because you have the image, you have quite an indie sound and you could be really big.

October People (Gio): We are not big at all.

Raven and The Gothicfox (Mike): No, but you could be with the right push and marketing

Raven and The Gothicfox (Andy): Take Horror Vacui last night for example, they have only ever played punk and now they are at a Goth festival and they were awesome and everyone has said they loved them. They blew us all away. The dance floor was full, completely full. And I think you guys are going to do exactly the same.

Raven and The Gothicfox (Mike): No pressure there then!

October People: Too much compliments for one interview, but we can manage to much compliments ha ha.

Raven and The Gothicfox (Mike): But we are really excited at seeing you tonight

October People (Gio)
We think that we are the most pop orientated performer out of all Sacrosanct, but we like it because I think if Dave and Simone see something in us and in our music, we can make new fans tonight with our show so we are not afraid we are motivated.

You recently played with ChameleonsVox in Madrid, how was this for you all as they are an amazing band?

October People: It was like a fucking dream actually, because Chameleons were a band who you liked when you were young and for me they are the band who were under exposed, under rated, the most under rated of all. Ok we have Joy Division, these are a cool band, but Chameleons for me is just after them and you know we were nervous but it was a very nice night. Very nice.

They are really lovely people as well. I went down to Brighton to see them perform with Last Cry, who are performing tonight and then you go out with them afterwards for a drink and they are so down to earth, Mark is a lovely person, they are all lovely people. Like you all are here, just sitting here having a drink

October People : I am reading his biography right now, and errm sometimes I think opening for his band just a few months ago, it is like an emotion for me because they are such a great band, it was such a pleasure. And such a pleasure to have a drink with him we speak and talk to them and he looks a very fun guy. We were there 3 years ago as fans and now we are opening for them. It was a dream come true.

Raven and The Gothicfox (Andy): Who else are you looking forward to seeing at Sacrosanct 2015?

October People: There is a lot of interesting bands to see, err Stompcrash, they are Italian as well, they are playing just before our performance and we hope to be there to see them.

Raven and The Gothicfox (Mike): There are a lot of Italian connections in this festival. (To Gio) We didn’t realise you are Italian

October People (Gio): I’m Italian, but errm I’ve been living in Spain during this last 7 years but consider myself as Spanish.

October People: Italians this year is like the 2nd World War, invading everything!

Raven and The Gothicfox (Mike): We also have Last Dusk around the corner who are from Costa Rica, but obviously speak Spanish, they are a bit lost with everything, but you will at least be able to understand each other.

October People: They are gonna play tomorrow? Ahh tomorrow we are gonna be in London

Raven and The Gothicfox (Mike): Are you playing a gig down there?

October People: No, No, just having a look around, it’s a pity because I would like to see Yabanci, but we are going, so errm next time.

Right we are now coming up to our last question. What plans does 2016 hold for you? Will there be a new release or more shows?

October People: We are thinking about it, because the new record is a big deal for us right now so we are investigating some new territory from where we are now. We would like to try some new sounds, although not far from where we are now. Maybe we are getting a keyboard player, just to make us a little bit slower and more down-tempo. We do have one song that we want to record before the New Year with a video and then we start from there and this is almost ready

Raven and The Gothicfox (Mike): Will you be playing that tonight?

October People: No, it’s not ready. But we do have a very good surprise for you for your (Mikes) favorite tune of the album, What I Am. We can have a special release for gothic-rock.com

Raven and The Gothicfox (Andy): That would be absolutely awesome!. Well it has been an absolute pleasure talking to you guys and all I want to do now is wish you all the best for tonight and we will be down the front to ensure that we rock the place for you!
