Exit To Eden – II

exiti to eden IIFounded in 2002 and hailing from Austria’s capital city Vienna, they have been labelled as Goth ‘n’ roll and on first listen, you can easily hear why this latest branch of Goth has been assigned to this exciting band.

The Current line-up is Bernie (Vocals) Werner (Drums) Hernan (Bass) David (Guitars) and collectively they make up a very refreshingly styled outfit, that in their history have seen them gain support slots alongside the legends ‘New Model Army’ and EBM merchants ‘Combichrist’.

The album starts off walking you down the post-punk road and as it progresses, the undertones of more metal styled riffs come to the fore. This is highlighted on the track ‘Neon Sun’ where you also get the full range of Bernie’s vocals which in places you can hear a big Marilyn Manson influence.

This continues into the next track ‘Lady in Red’ which we were mightily relieved that it wasn’t a nod to that god-awful Chris De Bleuurggh… But a catchy as hell journey through influences such as The Cult, Metallica and Marilyn Manson.

‘Is Suicide a way’ is next and wow what a track, the vocals continue down the Manson road and although the track starts as if we are going to be treated to a ballad, this assumption is soon dispelled when the intensity is cranked up and the resulting explosion of heartfelt lyrics are delivered like a truck hitting you head on, making this the first choice for outstanding track of the album.

On the track ‘Shake your hips’ you get a pure rock n roll offering that you can imagine gracing an album by arguably Finland’s leading rock export, Hanoi Rocks and should certainly appeal to the more metal aficionados of the dark side.

Hopefully, this album will help gain ‘Exit to Eden’ the wider recognition they deserve. ► by Raven and The Gothicfox
