Beastmilk – Climax

Beastmilk - Climax (2013)It’s time for one of finest Dark Punk acts from Finland. I can say without hesitation that “Climax” is by far, one of the top Post Punk albums from 2013. Beastmilk is a well tuned music machinery, they have craved their own style blending elements of Punk, Post Punk, and Alternative sound; with influences from bands such as: Crisis (UK), Dead Kennedys, Rudimentary Peni, Samhain, Joy Division, Sonic Youth , etc.

The result is a very rich mixture of well constructed melodies, combining sophisticated sounds and a landslide of energetic Post Punk music. Beastmilk have released the demo “White Stains On Black Tape”, the 7” “Use Your Deluge”, and “Climax” is their first full-length, and it’s quite a revelation.

“Death Reflects Us” is a total brain buster, with its powerful sound and catchy melody; their passion for music is pretty well represented in this opening track. “The Wind Blows Through Their Skulls” is energetic Dark Punk. It’s mid tempo and crushing, with great guitar work. “Genocidal Crush” has quite a contagious-melodic hook, this one is pretty catchy. “You Are Now Under Our Control” begins with a quite big rhythm section displaying some overwhelming and unstoppable rhythm; the song develops into a dynamic Dark Post Punk sound, very 80’s in spirit.

“Ghosts Out Of Focus” goes even more deeply into the 80’s Post Punk sound, and is quite a majestic track, you can find here some refined melody and intensity; this one is brilliant. Old School Gothic-Post Punk traces can be appreciated in the excellent song “Nuclear Winter”, pretty damn good track! This is getting better and better: “Fear Your Mind” has some influences from Danzig or Samhain combined with the best Dark Punk. Gloomy and powerful, and I loved this track. “Love In A Cold World” has been die casted in the same forge of the previous track, this one has hard guitars, strong rhythm, and untamed spirit. “Surf The Apocalypse” has a quite solid pace with stunning-melodic transitions. “Strange Attractors” has somber passion, lost romance, and intensity. From the beginning to the end, this album simply does not give you a break: It has great Dark Music and devotion.

They have a pretty interesting array of musical influences, thus they have created a pretty consistent sound. Without a doubt, this is one of the greatest Dark Post Punk albums from 2013. ¿Is this the finest sound of Dark Post Punk? Or ¿It is the most energetic sound of the Post Punk music of The New Millennium? Anyway, this one is F´’N mandatory!

Don’t miss it.   ► by Daniel Olvera
