I bought a 12 inch vinyl of “Planet Earth” by Duran Duran in a record store located in downtown Chicago, sometime in the mid eighties. Then “Night Boat” and “Friends of Mine.” Also by Duran Duran.

The new re-release vinyl of Joy Division’s “Unknown Pleasures.”

Well, of course the ones I mentioned above. The Velvet underground, Switchblade symphony, Alien Sex fiend, Stars From Mars and the Ultras (with Alistarr Liddell on vocals).

Name your 3 favorite Gothic Fests?

Wave Gothic Treffen. I haven’t been to any others, but I hope to play some more festivals in the next few years to come.

Name your 3 favorite gigs as a musician and as fan?

As a musician

It was with my last band (Astrovamps) playing the Wave Gothic Treffen festival in German, the Patriotic Hall in Los Angeles, California where we opened for Rozz’s final concert with Christian Death (it was a reunion concert with all the original members) and with my current band (Black Heroin Gallery) the Whisky a go go, with 45 Grave.

As a fan

It was seeing Dead Can Dance in Santa Monica, California. Seeing Depeche mode and The Dogs D’amour in Los Angeles.

Name the most 3 influential albums for you as an artist

“…If I Die, I Die” (Virgin Prunes), “Only Theatre of Pain” (Rozz’s Christian Death) And “Alice” (Tom Waits).

Describe yourself with 3 adjectives

Creative, visionary and driven.

What is the most overrated gothic band?

Well, I don’t think I can name one that’s overrated, most bands that Have gotten that attention, have somehow struck a nerve with their audience, whether that’s a good or bad thing, is a debate in itself.

What is the most underrated gothic band?

“Screams for Tina.” Yes they have a large following, but I just haven’t seen a lot of DJs play them. They’re an older band, but a great one. I don’t know if this makes them the most underrated gothic band or not, I just think they deserve more attention for their music.

In which band would you have liked to play live?

I would of liked to play live with bands like, Alien Sex Fiend, Bauhaus, Jane’s Addiction and Ministry.

Name 3 new gothic bands that have catched your attention lately?

Virgin in Veil, DeadFly Ensemble and BlurrAngels.

Gothic Rock or Post Punk and why?

They both share very similar traits, but I would pick Gothic Rock, because of its more experimental and haunting nature. I love the edgy sound of some post punk, mixing the two, most would say you have Deathrock.
