What was the very first record you bought?

What is the most expensive record have you bought?

I have no idea. Must have been the occasional odd THE CURE Bootleg back in the 90’s, when I was collecting these things.

What are your 5 very favorite bands ever?

Name 5 bands that have changed your life?

They are mostly the same as the ones above. I only have to add PINK FLOYD to that list.

Name your 3 favorite Gothic Fests?

Can’t answer that, I’ve only been to Festivals as an Artist for the last 20 years, and that’s a completely different thing. It wouldn’t be fair to judge from my position. But I do have to mention SACROSANCT in Reading (UK) because there is so much heart in this.

Name your 3 favorite gigs as a musician and as fan?

As a Fan:

THE SMASHING PUMPKINS – Munich 2000 – Machina Tour

THE CURE – Berlin 2002 – Trilogy Shows (Pornography / Disintegration / Bloodflowers Album Shows)

MASSIVE ATTACK – Vienna 2003 – 100th Window Tour

As Musician:

THE DEVIL & THE UNIVERSE – Castle Party Festival 2016

WHISPERS IN THE SHADOW – Shelter, Vienna 1998

Name the most 3 influential albums for you as an artist

THE CURE / PORNOGRAPHY – I wouldn’t even have picked up a guitar in the first place if it wasn’t for this record. And it still blows me away, every damn fucking time. DEAD CAN DANCE / DEAD CAN DANCE – The atmosphere of this early DCD record does something to me I can’t describe. I’m currently listening to that one a lot. Sometimes even several times a day. PINK FLOYD / LIVE IN POMPEII – it isn’t as important as it has been, but when I discovered PF it really changed the way I created music, forever I might add.

Describe yourself with 3 adjectives

obsessive, enthusiastic, driven (well, from time to time)

What is the most overrated gothic band?

THE CULT, if you consider their first albums as Goth. And SEX GANG CHILDREN, I never really got them

What is the most underrated gothic band?

PLAY DEAD, they should be up there with the genre icons if you ask me

In which band would you have liked to play live?

In DAVID BOWIE’S late live Band, but I would have had to practice a lot for that. ?

Name 3 new gothic bands that have caught your attention lately?

That’s a hard one, because there aren’t any. For me the really interesting dark music is happening somewhere else. But having said that: Long Night was pretty good though and Sweet Ermengarde and Aeon Sable of course. But the best “dark” stuff I heard in a long time comes from ZEAL AND ARDOR, I haven’t heard something as fresh and innovative for a very long time. Listen to this Gothic / Black Metal / Slave Music/ Soul Hybrid, you won’t believe your ears. https://zealandardor.bandcamp.com/

Gothic Rock or Post Punk and why?

Why one would have to choose from 2 Genres that are so closely connected with each other goes beyond my understanding. It’s like you would ask Country or Western? ? No seriously I wouldn’t even know how to label most bands I like. Take PLAY DEAD for example. Actually they are both. The best bands don’t give a shit about labels and so do I. Never did, well to be honest I did, when I was about 16.
