What was the very first record you bought?
“Hobo Humpin Slobo Babe” CD single by Whale. I think. Although I did get a free 7” once in a box of Frosties. F.A.B. Featuring MC Parker (Pressure Mix). That might count as my very first.
What is the most expensive record have you bought?
I once bought an “Co-Star with Vincent Price” novelty record for about £25. It came with a script and the record has Vincent reading out lines and you speak in the gaps. You can act opposite him in scenes from The Importance Of Being Earnest and things like that. It was worth every penny.
What are your 5 very favorite bands ever?
Cardiacs. Five times. They’re the most underrated thing in music. If you don’t know them, they’re like Magazine or XTC but at Zappa level complexity.
Name 5 bands that have changed your life?
The Cramps and The Cure were very helpful in getting me through teenland. Cardiacs again. 13th Floor Elevators… Cardiacs.
Name your 3 favorite Gothic Fests?
Under Cover of Darkness in Munster in the early 2000s is my favourite Gothic or otherwise festival. Probably because it was the first one I played at (with my other band; Zombina and the Skeletones, who I have played with since I was 16). I also have great memories of Lumous and am looking forward to playing at Return To The Batcave on Saturday!

What is the most overrated gothic band?
I can’t get into The Mission, even though I love Wayne and Craig in Sisters of Mercy. I don’t know why. I’ll keep trying.
What is the most underrated gothic band?
They’re all under rated. Including The Mission.
In which band would you have liked to play live?
I would have loved to have been one of Adam’s Ants circa Kings of the Wild Frontier.

Zone 321, Direct Attack, Hapax.
Gothic Rock or Post Punk and why?
I don’t find the two to be mutually exclusive, and consider all genres to be equal. Isn’t that boring of me?
