What was the very first record you bought?
I don’t remember anymore. I started to buy tapes in mid ’80:s. My parents had a turntable. If I wanted to listen to music by myself it was better to buy it as c-cassette and listen in my room. At that time I was listening to heavy metal like many kids of my age. My first tapes were bands like Iron Maiden and stuff like that.
What is the most expensive record have you bought?
I am a collector so I have spent lot of money in records… I dunno, one of the most expensive ones I have is The Misfits “Horror Business” single. The original pressing with yellow vinyl and insert. It is signed by Glenn Danzig.
What are your 5 very favorite bands ever?
These changes depending on mood, but there is many I enjoy year after year: Joy Division, The Cure, Killing Joke, Amebix, The Cult…
Name 5 bands that have changed your life?
Misfits, The Cure, Joy Division, Not a band but artist Brian Eno, Slowdive
Name your 3 favorite Gothic Fests?
I don’t go much to gothic festivals. There is only one annual gothic festival in Finland, Lumous. That is alright. They do good work, but I rarely see any bands that I really like. Many of my mates go to WGT. I’ve never been there. I’m a guy who sits at home and listens to records. Don’t go out so much. Klubb död in Stockholm, Sweden and Sacrosanct in Reading, UK are doing really good work supporting underground scene.
Name your 3 favorite gigs as a musician and as fan?
Slowdive at Flow Festival in Helsinki 2014, Killing Joke at Nosturi, Helsinki 2010 and New Model Army at Nosturi 2007 (my former band Varjo was supporting them!) You know Finland is not a place where all cool bands play. The Cure is coming to Helsinki this autumn. Last time they played here in 1996, 20 years ago!!!
Name the most 3 influential albums for you as an artist?
Joy Division “Closer”, Brian Eno/Harold Budd “The Pearl”, The Cure “Pornography”
Describe yourself with 3 adjectives?
An introvert trying his best to be more extrovert, creative. Eh, is that enough?
What is the most overrated gothic band?
What is the most underrated gothic band?
The Sound. I guess they are more of a post-punk band, but appeals to many into gothic.
In which band would you have liked to play live?
Slowdive, Killing Joke, New Model Army…
Name 3 new gothic bands that have caught your attention lately?
Ascetic is pretty good. I actually hear quite a lot of new bands, but rarely get excited about them. Most of them sounds like recycling stuff that is very familiar to me. There is rarely something that really surprises you or moves you some ways. I would like to get excited about new bands, but the older you get harder it is.
Gothic Rock or Post Punk and why?
Both are fine. I guess I’m more into so called post-punk as my main interest in these kind of bands is focused on late ’70:s/early ’80:s stuff.
